The buttons and joysticks were corroded from years of use and repeated soda spills. I'm actually surprised they worked at all... Ordered some new ones off of suzo happ - opted on the super joystick model since the shape of the stick is similar to the orig neogeo sticks sans the chrome bit in the middle. My other cabinet has competition joysticks which some seem to prefer, the main difference between the two being the shape of the actuator - the little rubber nub on the end of the pole which pushes the microswitches. The competition joystick has a square actuator while the super joystick has one with a rounded end. More on this after I've actually used both for a while.
Yummay...
The front part of the coinbox has had its lock torn off at some point. Shouldn't be too hard to bend back into shape and repaint, but this is minor and I'll save it for another time.
The console was probably one of the most noticeably bad bits of the cabinet. Fortunately, the plastic graphic was in fairly decent shape and only required minimal cleaning on the back. Ordered all new replacement buttons for the console.
