Cabinet Condition Part 1

The particle board on the interior of the cabinet was gross and needed to be cleaned.  The interior was vacuumed and a 1 part white vinegar to 3 part water solution and a plastic scrubbing brush took care of the rest.  Looks surprisingly good and doesn't have a musky smell anymore.

I wanted to repair / replace the monitor outright, but haven't been able to have it serviced quite yet.  The cabinet itself is 20 years old (the wooden panel has dates written on the inside) and I suspect the monitor is as well.  The screen is very dark and the flyback behind the screen is leaking something so I'm not sure if it will even be possible to repair with a simple cap kit, at which point I'd be better off buying a new monitor outright.  I'd rather have a CRT for authenticity purposes, though if I could find an LCD that has a good bright picture with a refresh rate that matches what the neogeo outputs (may have to get a signal converter for this), I wouldn't be too opposed to that.

I would also like to eventually have the entire exterior painted.  My problem with this is the side graphics are part of a large sticker which spans the entire side of the cabinet.  While you can order replacement logo decals online, they are limited to the wording only.  For anybody curious, I found the paint code on a post at neo-geo.com forums:

Colorant OZ 48 96
KX White 0 2 0
R Exterior RE 3 36 1
U Magenta 0 8 1

So technically, while you could paint the sides the same color and reapply your decals, the wording wouldn't be flush against the panel like on an authentic cabinet.  If anyone has a good idea about how to do this or knows a place that sells entire side graphics for the MVS-4-25 (ver. 2), I'd love to hear about it.  What I may end up doing is sanding the black paint off the cabinet, reapplying that and then just touching up the red parts.  It won't look quite as nice, but would be easier and more authentic than decals.

The power supply was a bit worn out too, would make a strange whirring noise on initial spinup and wasn't the correct type for the cabinet in general.  It had a button on the side of the PS instead of a wire lead you could plug into an external switch which is already mounted to the cabinet.  Ordered a new one from suzo happ.
